SEA is a comprehensive medical and surgical eye care practice serving the greater Memphis and Tri-State areas with patients located in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Established in 1990 by Dr. Cathy Schanzer, Southern Eye Associates strives to provide the highest levels of surgical and medical care utilizing state-of-the-art technology. We provide the network optometrists medical and surgical consultations, phone consults, emergency coverage, continuing education lectures, clinical care workshops and training in surgical co-management. We encourage a family-oriented environment and promote community awareness and involvement.

In addition to our clinical facility we have three ASC’s. They have been specifically designed to give personal and professional care for outpatient ophthalmic surgeries. We utilize these surgical facilities to benefit
our patients by reducing medical costs, providing timely visits, and more personal one-on-one care.

Patricia Walker, O.D., is our Consultative Optometry Residency Director. After completing her doctor of optometry from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, Dr. Walker continued her residency training at Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She has extensive co-management experience, recently practicing in Huntsville, Alabama, where she was the Associate Center Director of a co-management referral center for four years. She is involved in all aspects of patient care at Southern Eye.
